BOSA SEA + SKY

Our team designed a system of identity and wayfinding signs for this new waterfront neighbourhood in Squamish. With design influences from the iconic strata of “the Chief” as well as the industrial past of the area, the signage is the physical expression of the neighbourhood brand.

Client: Bosa Developments Location: Squamish, BC Size: 53 acres
Scope: Wayfinding signage masterplan, Commercial signage guidelines

The work is created from multiple layers of classic materials, such as cast concrete, weathering steel and engraved, painted aluminum. Forms are created from simple, modular elements which are more elaborate for signature gateway signs and simpler for the more basic street signage. The overall approach is in keeping with the richly coloured, Scandinavian-inspired neighbourhood architecture. Industry-standard materials and processes were specified in construction documents for their longevity in marine environments and cost effectiveness. The process began with concept development and integration of home sales and marketing information. It included on-going consultation with the developer client and the District of Squamish to create a signage system which pays compliments the municipal wayfinding system which will appear in nearby public parks and trails.
